What to Look For in a Good Office Chair
When you are buing an office chair, there are many
features of a good office chair that you should look
for. Some of these are listed below.
Backrest Adjustment
In order to alleviate or avoid the discomfort that comes
from long periods of sitting in a chair, it is important
to have an adjustable backrest. The adjustments include
the height of the backrest, backrest tilte that allows
one to take different postures while having support for
the lower back, and horizontal backrest movement.
Adjustment for Chair Height
Typically, chair height adjustment works with a
pneumatic lever. This allows one to adjust the height
while sitting in the chair. This is a big advantage over
past office chairs that required spinning around in
order to change the height.
Characteristics of a Seat Pan
Rounded edge at the front of the seat pan can help in
avoiding pressure to the back of the legs or behind the
knees. There should be enough depth so that the user's
legs have enough space to maintain good circulation.
Seat pan tilt will allow one to change posture and
alleviate pressure. The quality of the fabric is another
factor that is good to take into account.
Armrest Characteristics
Armrests should be properly adjustable (height and width)
and have good padding. While armrests are not that often
used when using a keyboard, they are useful.
Chair Stability
Five pronged base is more stable than four pronged, so
this is a good feature to look for. The casters should
also be appropriate for the surface material. |
